BIKE PURCHASE + BUY BACK + TRADE IN
Questions regarding your purchase of bikes, accessories, equipment, etc.
All new bikes purchased from Belfield are entitled to our free 4-week service package.
Certainly! At our shop, you have the fantastic opportunity to trade in your used bike and receive a discount on the purchase of another bike (including second hand). Additionally, we are pleased to provide a free scrappage service for old bikes.
We always recommend that our customers sell their bikes privately to maximize their earnings. However, if you prefer to avoid the hassle, we do offer a buy-back option for your bike (both new and second hand), up to 50% of its original value, depending on the bike’s condition, as long as you have the purchase receipt.
Yes, we do. Most of our second-hand bikes are from our BUY-BACK SCHEME or trade-ins. Give us a call or even better, pop in to have a look at what we have to offer in our ever-changing range of second-hand bikes.
Currently, as we work on getting our website up and running, our online selection of products is quite limited, despite our extensive range of offerings. Nevertheless, our ultimate objective is to make all of our products available for you to browse online.
For security reasons, we do not accept payment over the phone. Safeguarding our customers’ sensitive payment information is our top priority. Accepting payments over the phone can pose risks such as unauthorized access, potential fraud, or mishandling of credit card details. By adhering to a policy of not accepting phone payments, we ensure the protection of our customers’ financial data and maintain a secure transaction process.
Once again – an unfortunate no, it is our goal to get to that point in the future to be able to provide such a service, but for now, we are stretched with manpower to run the show and are more focused on our customers visiting us in person.
WORKSHOP, REPAIR & SERVICES
YES. Regardless how many times we’ve been asked we still find this question rather amusing. Perhaps it’s because we take great pleasure getting to the bottom of any imaginable bike issue ourselves, while we always try to find the most cost-effective solution without putting a strain on your wallet. However, it’s important to note that there are limits to what can be repaired.
We are a small shop and space is our challenge. But we transformed that disadvantage into our advantage thus we try to do the SAME DAY repair to get bikes in-and-out as much as we can, unless you need specific parts we happen to not have in stock. And if we don’t then it only depends how quickly we can get them from our suppliers.
Short answer is – NO, you do NOT need to book an appointment. Our goal, due to our shop space limitations, is to get you back on the road ASAP! Drop your bike in whenever suits you. If it is early enough, you have a good chance to cycle home same day after work. In the worst case scenario you might need to leave your bike in for a day or two. We could give you better estimation when taking the bike in.
You can check our basic price-list here but we would give you better estimation when dropping your bike in. If we’d come across a major problem during the service we’d call you to ask for your approval.
CYCLE 2 WORK SCHEME
Most popular questions about Cycle to Work Scheme. You can find basic info in this section of FAQ, or here on a designated page of our website.
If that still isn’t enough you can also find more information here on Citizens information website.
The Cycle to Work Scheme, initiated by the Irish government, serves as a tax incentive program aimed at motivating employees to choose cycling as their commuting option over driving. By participating, employees can enjoy savings of up to 52% on the cost of their bikes and bicycle accessories. Notably, employers also benefit from reduced PRSI contributions, making it advantageous for both parties involved.
No, employers are not obligated to take the part of the scheme. However, if they offer it to one employee they have to offer it to all employees.
As an employee, you can use the scheme once every 4 years. The four-year span between tax breaks is counted by tax year. If you bought a bike anytime in 2024, you can buy a new bike and receive the next tax relief in January 2028.
You can save up to 52% of the retail cost based on your tax rate. The repayment made towards the Cycle to Work Scheme is exempt from tax, PRSI, and the USC (Universal Social Charge), providing a valuable tax break to employees while saving money in the process. Employers also benefit from reduced PRSI contributions.

Sky is the limit. Not from Revenue perspective though, therefore there are three categories and your scheme applies (only) to:
€3,000 on cargo and ecargo bikes
€1,500 on pedelecs and ebikes
€1,250 for other bikes
and whatever is above you’d need to pay the balance yourself.
Employers pay upfront for the purchase of a new bicycle and related equipment. Subsequently, they can arrange a “salary sacrifice agreement” over a maximum period of 12 months. Through this agreement, employees agree to forgo a predetermined portion of their gross salary to cover the bicycle’s cost.
